HP-17B II tear down

It doesn't power on.
Small research in the Internet finds plenty of information for possible cause.
Most common one: the keybard connector do not makes contact with the PCA anymore.
When pressing the area just bellow the display while pressing the ON key, it works! This confirms the issue.
Apparently the foam used to maintain the keyboard flat connector pressed against the PCA may need to be replaced.

This calculator had a hard life. The area around the display shows signs of beating.

Time to open the machine.
No screws here. This Pioneer series were designed to not be opened, ever.
It uses plastic heat rivets in place of screws.

Front four rivets drilled by using a 4mm bit.
the other 4 rivets in the back near the battery compartment needs the same procedure.

PCA:

Untwist the six metal clamps that maintains the PCA in place:

Keyboard connector with the foam underneath.
LCD display with upper and lower connectors.

PCA back side.
LCD and keyboard contacts.

The pouch shows clear signs of abuse.
Some heavy object has been over the calculator, just over the display area.
