HP-30B to WP-34S conversion: USB to Serial TTL cable prototype

The WP-34S project ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/wp34s/?source=navbar )

I am making my own serial cable ( USB to serial TTL ) to flash the HP-30B with the WP-34S firmware releases when needed.

The USB to Serial converter is based on a Prolific PL2303HX.
I using an additional 3.3V regulator based on the DS1117-3.3 IC as a source voltage to the calculator power supply, Reset and Erase functions of the serial cable.

The only missing part is the cabling terminated with six pogo pins to connect to the calculator.

The following (shaky) video shows the prototype in action.

The serial interface is connected in loop back mode.
I am running the Hyper Terminal on Windows to send and receive ASCII chars from the keyboard.

SANYO 2SB22 PNP Germanium transistors from the 70's
Lote of 10 transistors

hfe varies between 230 and 286 - The readings were taken on a basic DCK KD615 digital multimeter.
So these are just reference values to make sure all of them are in good condition and to make sure they have similar gain.

Quoted from the 1968 edition Handbook SANYO Semiconductor:
PNP germanium alloy junction transistor amplifier for low-power low-frequency (SANYO)
hfe Min 67 Max 275 Typ 100 (VCE-1.5V, IC-100mA)
Color code:

67-110 green  orange 90-140  110-165 blue  yellow 135-195  155-220 colorless  red 180-275
VCBO-25V
VEBO-12V
IC-200mA
(When using the radiator R1A) PC 300mW
